Hong Kong

I took a weekend to visit Hong Kong because I wanted to have some point of comparison for my stay in South Korea.  It was really a beautiful set of islands and an interesting place to visit.  The subway was really cheap to ride and would take you all over the span of Hong Kong.  Everything felt really connected.  I started off seeing the light show from the Avenue of the Stars, exploring the different monuments before the lights actually started.  I then went to the hostel where I was staying and got some food (traditional Hong Kong bakery).

 I went to Victoria Peak by cable car and got to look down over all of Hong Kong, then went to Stanley beach.

I also got to go to see a nunnery and garden in Hong Kong and also a casino city nearby (Macau) by Ferry.

My stay in Macau was longer than I was planning on because it's a lot easier to buy a ticket to get to Macau than to actually get a return ticket.  I went to return home around 8pm (which was a hassle because I managed to find the one taxi driver who knew absolutely no English after getting lost on the bus system).  I ended up taking an hour long taxi ride to cover 15 minutes of walking, got to the wrong ferry terminal had to take another taxi and then...the next boat out was around 1:30am for me to catch a flight home to Korea by 8am...  I waited in standby for an hour and got a boat at 11pm after about a 1.5 hour wait.  Then I caught the last subway home, napped an hour or so and took a bus to the airport around 5am!  I was pretty tired.
